KOLTIVA Appoints Joe Keen Poon As Executive Chairman To Advance Sustainable, Transparent Supply Chains Globally

In a move further advancing its ambitions to change agriculture globally through sustainability and digital traceability, KOLTIVA has appointed Joe Keen Poon as its new Executive Chairman. This significant leadership transition is a transformational inflection point for the Indonesia-Switzerland-based AgriTech company as it accelerates its mission of creating deforestation-free, inclusive, and fully traceable supply chains.

With a clear alignment to new global sustainability requirements—specifically, the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD), and the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD)—KOLTIVA positions itself as a partner that companies can count on to help them navigate the complexities of ESG compliance.

Joe Keen Poon comes with over 30 years of experience as a leader in business in global organisations such as Microsoft, Deloitte, Surbana Jurong, and most recently the Executive Director of the Singapore Institute of Management (SIM). Importantly, as Executive Chairman, he will develop the strategic leadership and direction for KOLTIVA to scale Agricultural Markets throughout Asia, Americas, Europe, Middle East and Africa all while ensuring KOLTIVA is paying particular attention to their commitment to climate resilient and equitable agricultural initiatives.

Accelerating Sustainable Transformation Across the Value Chain

KOLTIVA offers a range of solutions in its integrated ecosystem, including digital traceability platforms, in-field agronomic assistance, remote sensing, digital payments, and smallholder capacity building that is intended to connect smallholder farmers with sustainable producers, brands, and consumers. KOLTIVA has engaged, implemented, and trained over 1.9 million producers in 65 countries. Joe’s appointment is also a signal of the renewed focus needed to develop this ecosystem model to meet urgent sustainability pressing for action across commodity supply chains including palm oil, cocoa, rubber, and coffee.

“KOLTIVA is at a special intersection of sustainable agriculture, climate action, digital technology innovation, and financial inclusion,” said Joe Keen Poon. “I’m excited to join a team that not only builds technology but creates impact where it matters most – with the producers on ground. Real sustainability is built on trust, transparency, and co-creating value.”

As the head of KOLTIVA, Joe’s goal is to enhance governance, open new investment opportunities, and scale solutions that achieve ethical sourcing and environmental compliance while improving smallholder farmer livelihoods.

ESG-Driven Sourcing in an Accelerated Regulatory Environment

With a stricter global regulatory environment, especially for deforestation and supply chain due diligence, companies are increasingly expected to prove their sourcing is sustainable. KOLTIVA addresses this challenge with a hybrid model that combines polygon-based geospatial verification and robust field engagement, offering real-time insights and audit-ready traceability from farm to finished product.

“KOLTIVA has long led the charge in making supply chains more sustainable and inclusive,” said Manfred Borer, CEO and Co-Founder of KOLTIVA. “With Joe onboard, we’re entering a new phase—one where we scale responsibly and expand globally without losing the human connection that defines our work with smallholders.”

A Commitment to People, Planet, and Profit

For KOLTIVA, the triple-bottom-line approach – People, Planet, and Profit – will remain a guiding principle as it continues to grow. KOLTIVA will continue to position itself at the nexus of technology and real-world impact, executing on the belief that the digital transformation of rural economies can happen alongside rural empowerment.

With Joe Keen Poon’s leadership of its board, KOLTIVA will continue to strengthen partnerships across sectors, increase the climate resilience of agriculture, and further integrate ESG intelligence with agrifood supply chains into its platform. It is clear that with global expectations for sustainability shifting, KOLTIVA is well positioned to be at the first-mover advantage to help shape a greener and more equitable future for the agricultural value chain.
